Exciting Times Ahead

Woolwich is very well placed as part of the London Borough of Greenwich to benefit from the 2012 Olympics, the DLR extension at Woolwich Arsenal and other recent investments in London.

The Olympics shooting events are proposed to take place at Woolwich Barracks minutes from The Academy and Greenwich Park will host the equestrian and modern pentathlon events. The Olympic Park itself is a short drive away.

The DLR extension has trains running at least every ten minutes to and from Woolwich Arsenal. When the DLR Stratford International extension opens in mid 2010, trains are planned to operate every four minutes between Woolwich Arsenal and Stratford International. See the DLR website for further information >

The Woolwich Arsenal extension serves all stations on the London City Airport route and, via Canning Town, provides connections to the Beckton branch of the DLR and the Jubilee Line for Stratford, London Bridge and the West End.

The go-ahead for Crossrail will link Woolwich with Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west and Kent and Essex in the east. Once this new service is complete the Isle of Dogs will be less than 10 minutes away and the direct journey to Heathrow will take just 50 minutes.*
